Coco Gauff is a player who is surrounded by glory. Her matches are a sight for the onlookers as she shuts down opponents much more experienced than her with impeccable class. She stepped into the Miami Open with the same panache and found herself in the third round of the tournament. Her performances have even evoked Roger Federer to praise her, as he sends her congratulations messages.

That’s always pretty cool”: Coco Gauff fangirls over Roger Federer text

Gauff won her recent clash against Océane Dodin in the third round of the Miami Open. She beat the French player in straight sets, ending the match with a bagel. After the clash, Gauff talked about the messages she receives from several different legends of the sport. Chris Evert was one who often asked about the whereabouts of the player.

A lot of her messages are just advice on some matches or just, Good job, How are you doing, regular messages. I do get some messages from past players, not as many as people would think. I would think the only person honestly, other than Chrissie, is Mary Joe, who I’ve grown up with a lot with Tony Godsick, being the agency I grew up with,” shared Gauff.

However, no message strikes her as hard as Federer’s, “Once a blue moon Roger will send me a message. That’s always pretty cool when he does. I can’t think of any on the top of my head other than those two right now. But there’s more, I’m sure.”

Gauff is a big fan of the Swiss Maestro and even showed her inner fangirl as she ended up picking him over her other idol, Serena Williams, in one area.

Gauff would choose to play as Federer instead of Serena Williams

After her first-round victory in the Miami Open, Gauff said that she knew she would be in the game as she scanned for it in Australia. She has not played the game herself as she does not enjoy playing sports games. However, she plans on playing the game once as the swings look funny to her. She further said, “Yeah, it’s pretty cool to be in a video game. I don’t know how I would feel playing myself, though.”

When asked who she would like to pick, she said, “Probably as one of the big three, yeah. Probably them.” Since Federer is the only big three player in the game at the moment, Gauff will choose him over her biggest idol, Serena Williams, showing the love she has for the Swiss Maestro.
