Disappointing return for Naomi Osaka
Following her on-screen appearance, Naomi also made a much-awaited return to the court. Earlier this year, the Japanese star announced an unprecedented break from the sport, following a fallout with the French Open authorities. As a result, she withdrew from the ongoing competition, and the then-upcoming 2021 Wimbledon Championship. However, after almost a two-month-long break, Naomi returned to the court, representing Japan at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Fans hugely appreciated Naomi’s comeback to the sport as they enjoyed watching the 23-year-old in action. However, her dream return was cut short, courtesy of a masterclass performance by Marketa Vondrousova, in the third round of the women’s singles event. Despite a strong comeback, Naomi Osaka was denied a medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
