Sharing 30 Grand Slam titles among them, the duo have proved why they are the greatest tennis siblings to have stepped foot on a court. At the ages of 41 and 39, Venus and Serena are still going strong.

‘King Richard’ film to showcase Venus and Serena Williams’ childhood

Since they were very young, Serena and Venus have been inclined towards tennis. Their main source of inspiration has been their father Richard, who has driven them through and through. He has been their guiding force, and coached them right through their childhood. Coming from a simple background, the sisters proved how dreams do indeed come true. To document their brilliant rise, there is a movie coming out later this year.

King Richard is the brilliant tale of Richard Williams, who played a pivotal role in the lives of the Williams sisters. It will portray the early life, tennis careers and personal growth of the family over the years. The star attraction of the cast is legendary actor Will Smith, who plays Richard. And if early signs are anything to go by, the ‘Men in Black’ star has done a phenomenal job.

Will Smith creates Oscars buzz with King Richard performance

Though the film is yet to receive a theatrical release, it debuted at the Telluride Film Festival. The movie has been directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green and will be released by Warner Brothers. The official release in the USA is set to be in November, but critics are already raving about the film. More specifically, they have lauded the great Will Smith for his performance, with many believing it to be Oscar-worthy.

Will Smith’s acting is generating a lot of buzz after the Telluride Film Festival. Many people believe it to be his career-best performance. One of the opening reviews read, “King Richard is love. King Richard is family. The rocky of tennis movies. The Rocky for every black kid in the world. Will Smith’s finest moments as an actor. Saniyya Sidney is proof the future of Black women in Hollywood is bright. Welcome to the Oscar race!”
