As the tweet went viral on social media, fans came up with their sarcastic comments that were no doubt a delight to read. A fan mentioned a comment that said, “Real number 1..,” followed by reactions of laughter. The comment, quite obviously a sarcastic one, attracted the attention of viewers.

Another fan, taking the dig to the next level, said, “going to pretend I didn’t see that,” along with a funny meme picture.

Another comment presented a challenge to Iga Swiatek, saying, “big lenka is gonna drag her off the court next time they play.”

With a series of comments flowing in, another one pointed towards how this comment, coming from a co-player, was not at all appropriate. The comment said, “that is actually kinda disrespectful from fans is one thing but from a fellow player mmmm LEWSER.”

Another fan, shooting direct contempt at the Polish tennis star, mentioned, “Also the most boring player.”

Besides the sarcasm and sly comments, a fan, highlighting the main reason behind the trolls and how the Russian player’s comment was inappropriate, mentioned, “But of course, it is still disrespectful to rankings system.”

The reactions clearly happened to be on the side of WTA rankings. Coming from a player lying under the same ranking criteria, the comment that Samsonova presented was met with hate and trolls by the fans. But her comment on the long-prevailing rivalry between Sabalenka and Swiatek was not made in a vacuum, with other tennis players also sharing their thoughts in the past.
