Serena Williams had clarified that she will not have another baby while being active on the court. And the plans aligned the same way because now she is going to have a baby after she has bid farewell to the sport. But her former coach Rick Macci is envisioning the potential that she can manifest with her sister Venus Williams. Seeing potential in their combined talent, he believes they can still excel in the doubles category.

While the rest of the world is pouring in congratulatory messages for Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian for having a baby, her former coach is planning one step ahead.

In a podcast, Tennis Unfiltered, Rick Macci talked about meeting younger Williams. He stated, “Now Serena’s a mother. She’s gonna have another kid.” Furthermore, he shed light on Venus Williams’ career and its future. He stated, “It’s hard when you are that competitive to say goodbye.”

However, he saw a positive light if Serena also comes into the picture. Macci stated, “I think in doubles, and in mixed doubles, her and Serena still could win. I really think they could be competitive.” Casting his doubts over their singles endeavor, he stated, “You gotta play the next day, your body is going to feel different, people aren’t afraid of them, so that could be difficult.”

Venus and Serena Williams have an astounding record of 14 Grand Slam titles in the doubles category. Coach Rick Macci feels that they can still do it.

Can we see a grand comeback of the two sisters together on the WTA tour? 

Adding that people would love to watch the two sisters playing together, he stated, “What’s crazy is that they are still good enough to win doubles on the WTA tour and to win mixed doubles at Grand Slams. Don’t think the door’s closed. It’ll be fun to see if they do play.” 

It surely would be but at the moment, Serena is focusing on fulfilling Olympia’s wish. During her retirement too, she explicitly stated that she wants a bigger family.
