Serena Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian is a popular face in the sports world. The Reddit co-founder is a well-known businessman who has made some big investments in this industry. He has invested in Angel City FC, one of the current best women’s soccer teams.

Ohanian has always been vocal about the importance of women in any sport and  supported by investing in them. Recently, in an interview, he talked about his wife Serena and her five-year-old daughter, and his connection with tennis and he even talked about his investment in soccer.

Alexis Ohanian opens up about the idea of investing in a soccer team 

Ohanian is known as the leading investor to start the Los Angeles soccer team. Addressing the investment, the interviewer asked him a question about the idea of investing in a soccer team. He recalled back in 2019 how this whole process started when we went to watch a women’s match in Paris played by two brilliant teams. The US women’s team played against the French national team in the women’s world cup quarter-final.

He recollected the time when he asked his close friend about the sport and how it changed everything. He said, “It was a quarterfinal, and I saw a packed arena packed with people losing their minds. I saw stars like Megan Rapinoe, Alex Morgan and I asked them, I was like why don’t these women play in America? He said they do it’s called the NWSL. I had no idea wow, but what I saw on that pitch…I realized this was the most obvious best sports investment.”
