However, the currently ranked No. 1 in the PPA circuit has finally been outclassed after a very long period by her fierce opponent. The pickleball prodigy has already notched up a number of triumphs while cementing her position as the world number 1 in all three categories, singles, doubles, and mixed doubles. Now, after a very long period, Anna Leigh Waters has tasted defeat at the hands of her opponent Hurricane Tyra Black during the ongoing Carvana PPA Tour.

However, instead of showing any signs of disappointment, the 16-year-old player was surprisingly sighted jumping for joy on the court. Her reaction was brought to light by a pickleball fan page on Twitter. While sharing a video clip of the bewildering incident in California, they added a caption, “Tyra Black upsets #1 Anna Leigh Waters. And the final sequence is…..odd 🤔 @PPAtour”

Even the commentators were quite surprised as they expressed their bafflement after witnessing her post-match reactions on the court. Leigh Waters’ first defeat in a while might come as a huge surprise for the fans, however, her pickleball legacy is unblemished.

Leigh Waters rose to prominence in the PPA circuit right after her debut at the tender age of 12. She experienced a major breakthrough after outshining the US Open Triple Crown winner Simone Jardim and Corrine Carr at the doubles event of the Florida Grand Slam.

Later on, the 16-year-old player added 12 gold medals to her bag, which she won at the US Open and USA Pickleball Nationals. On top of all this, she has amassed 14 PPA triple crowns — the singles, doubles, and mixed doubles events in the PPA circuit.
