Serena Williams has been in pursuit of a 24th Grand Slam title for quite a while now. She won her last Major, the 23rd of her glorious career in 2017. Serena defeated her elder sister, Venus Williams, to win the Australian Open crown that year. The same year, she gave birth to her first child, Olympia.

Subsequently, Serena reached the Grand Slam final on four occasions but stumbled in the final hurdle on each of those times. She is just one shy of equalling Margaret Court’s all-time record of winning 24 Major titles.

The former World Number 1 opened up on competing on the tour in recent times. She said, “This chapter makes me happy because for so many years I’ve played, and I’ve loved doing it, but now I’m playing just for me. I compete when and where I want to go, but I don’t have to go. So I’m enjoying it in a different way.”

Since the Wimbledon last season, Serena has been away from the tennis court. She was forced to retire midway through the first set in her opening round at Wimbledon due to a hamstring injury. She had an unfortunate slip on the wet grass court at the tournament which resulted in her injury. Due to her lengthy injury lay-off, Serena has dropped to Number 245 on the WTA rankings chart.

However, the former World Number 1 has been giving some positive updates on her comeback to tennis. Earlier this year, she revealed that she is back to light training ahead of her potential comeback later this year. Recently, she shared a cryptic TikTok video, saying, “On my way to Wimbledon,”  dropping a major hint about her comeback at the tournament where she last played.
