Later on, a few players on the WTA tour weren’t impressed with Sharapova’s return when she eventually made a comeback after being banned.

Additionally, Bouchard, in her furious rant, went on to call the 5-time singles Grand Slam champion a ‘cheater’. Later on, after a victory against Sharapova, the Canadian tennis star further revealed that she had no ‘regret’ calling her a ‘cheater’.

A slew of fans, and also a few players on the WTA tour, were absolutely furious when Maria Sharapova made a comeback after facing a doping ban. The 5-time singles Grand Slam champion was slammed for using a drug named, ‘meldonium,’ which is considered a performance enhancer for athletes. The Canadian tennis star, Eugenie Bouchard also criticized the former Russian tennis player by calling her a ‘cheater’.

Bouchard stated, “I just wanted to play as well as I could and definitely had a little bit of extra motivation to kind of do it for all of us who have been fair to the sport and who have played the sport, the true way it’s meant to be played”

Bouchard also revealed that she got support from the tennis community

During the interview, Bouchard also revealed that she got support from the tennis community after she defeated Maria Sharapova in the Madrid Open. She stated that many players coaches, agents, and people around the globe supported her for calling out the former world No. 1 tennis player.

Bouchard said, And I support you and I agree with you and I just realized a lot of people are maybe a bit afraid to speak out, but that’s how I am.”

Apart from Bouchard, a slew of fans also slammed Sharapova after she made a comeback to the court.
