It’s been quite a while since the world No. 1 player, Angelique Kerber, delighted the audience with her stellar performances on the court. The German tennis player has been away from competitive tennis after she announced her maternity break in the previous season. Later, the former Wimbledon champion recently gave birth to her first child in February this season.

Speaking about her parental duties, the 35-year-old player recently opened up about her idea of embracing motherhood. In the process, the WTA player also revealed that her toddler has turned her world upside down.

Angelique Kerber opens up about embracing motherhood

The former world No. 1 player was recently featured in an interview with Bild, in which she talked about her post-pregnancy schedule. Meanwhile, Angelique Kerber was asked about the most ‘fascinating thing’ after she took up parental duties for her first child.

The German tennis star answered by saying that she has been quite fascinated to see how quickly things have changed so much following the birth of her daughter. Kerber said, “The new awareness of always thinking for someone and being there. It turns your world upside down. She has now taken the most important role.”

“That’s so many positive emotions and feelings, every day. The progress is enormous. I would never have thought so,” she added. Kerber also revealed that she doesn’t have a nanny yet, as her daughter is always by her side, even during her practice sessions on the court.

When will Kerber return to the women’s circuit?

During the interview, the 35-year-old WTA star also opened up about her plans of making a comeback to competitive tennis. Kerber said that she will only make a return to the WTA Tour after being physically fit to play back-to-back matches in a tournament.

Hence, the former world No. 1 player is practicing to rediscover her form with a clear objective to only make a return in the next season’s Australian Open. Prior to the Grand Slam event in Melbourne, Kerber is also planning to compete in a couple of preparatory tournaments, including the United Cup where she will represent her country.
