Complaints are echoing at the WTA Finals! One after the other, all the players taking part are sharing their concerns regarding how Cancun is not the right place to have the year-end tournament. While some players struggled, Iga Swiatek and Ons Jabeur are adapting to the court conditions and giving their best.

The 29-year-old tennis star complained about the unplayable conditions at the tournament after winning against Markéta Vondroušová in the group stage. She also mentioned how she is attempting to give it her all while modifying the circumstances of the court.

Ons Jabeur opens up about Cancun’s unplayable conditions

This year’s WTA Finals have captured much attention with the continuous problems occurring during the tournament. From location selection to lack of practice time, the players are dealing with many unfavorable conditions on the court.

Jabeur, who will face world No. 2 Iga Swiatek in the next round, discussed the challenging conditions in a Tennis Channel interview. She said, “I mean, you can see that the racket was flying on its own. I wasn’t throwing it or anything that but I mean it is very tough.”

She made fun of the court and admitted losing control of her emotions during tough times. But the situation here is quite different, and something has created a problem for all the WTA Finals participants.

Further, she stated, “At the end of the day, I try to remember that it’s for both of us and I try to remember where the spots are the worst on the court. So, I try to hit there the most, but uh, usually it doesn’t work.”

Nevertheless, it’s not only the top Tunisian tennis player who has spoken about the conditions under which the tournament is being played. Elena Rybakina and Aryna Sabalenka also raised their voices to share shocking remarks about the Cancun court condition.

WTA players criticize Cancun’s court conditions

Many players are dissatisfied with the conditions of the year-end championship tournament. The tournament’s preparations did not live up to the significance of the event, according to the world No. 1-ranked tennis player after her first match. However, Rybakina expressed her dissatisfaction as well after losing in the first round. She expressed her displeasure with the state of the court and mentioned how little court time they had, adding that it was too late to make any corrections. Nevertheless, she was intent on giving it her all and winning the competition, regardless of the circumstances.
