And even though Gauff is to be credited for most of it, some credit also goes to her team who stood behind her providing training and strength to emerge as a winner. The main credit from her team goes to coach Brad Gilbert, who was one of the main reasons behind the teenager winning her first-ever grand slam.

Coco Gauff cannot win a grand slam in 2024 using the same methods as 2023, says Eric Riley

In a recent podcast episode of the Tennis Channel Inside In, Eric Riley who is a renowned coach talked about the way Brad Gilbert helped Coco Gauff win her first grand slam and it’s good that she has him because she won’t be able to win if she uses the same methods as last year, for 2024 as well.

He stated, “The quality of the work that you did to win the US Open is not going to win you in 2024 is not going to win a major. So, Brad knows that. She’s going to have to play better this year, and she’s gonna have to improve between shots for like I said earlier, you got to work on weaknesses. You got to build confidence.”

Along with pointing out what Gauff needs to do, he also mentioned that it is good that she has Gilbert because of his experience, who also knows what needs to be done to win another grand slam like last year.

Brad Gilbert shared an appreciative statement about Coco Gauff

In an interview that Brad Gilbert had with Euro Sport last month, he talked about a few matches where Gauff showed excellent work. He also talked about her strengths and the qualities she has as a player. He stated, “If you asked [Gauff] at the start of 2023, her expectations were high. She sets a high standard, and she’s driven to get better. She’s never satisfied. She wants to achieve things — that’s all she’s thinking about.
