World No. 3 Naomi Osaka recently won her first match at the WTA 500 Melbourne 2. She defeated Alize Cornet in straight sets in the first round quite comfortably with the final being 6-2, 6-2. Soon after, the Japanese star revealed that she focuses and prepares herself for every single tournament.
In the post-match press conference, Naomi Osaka said that she didn’t think about her records before playing any tournament. She believes that she just goes into every single tournament thinking that she’ll do her best there.
“I would say, I don’t really look at my record or whatever. I go into each tournament just trying to do best that I can,” said Osaka.

The 3-time Grand Slam champion also feels that she has a really weird tennis career. She highlighted that she hadn’t enjoyed much success in the small tournaments. She also mentioned that she had been trying hard to improve her record at such tournaments.
“I know that, I have a really weird career in the way that I don’t really do that great at small tournaments. I am hoping to fix that,” added the 23-year-old Japanese player.

“Want to do well at every tournament”- Naomi Osaka
Osaka also disclosed her future plans and said that she wanted to not only perform well at Slams but at all the tournaments. She will certainly hope to improve her performance in the small tournaments as well.

“I want to do well at every tournament that I play,” concluded the World No.3 player.
Osaka looks quite determined and will surely be eyeing the WTA Melbourne 2 title before going into the upcoming major. She will next face Katie Boulter in the pre-quarters of the tournament.

After this, Osaka will advance to the Australian Open 2021. The Japanese star definitely looks hungry and will be looking forward to her second Australian Open title this year. Will Osaka be able to get her hands on her fourth Grand Slam title in Melbourne this year?
