Apart from being tech-savvy, Serena Williams‘ husband Alexis Ohanian is an ardent supporter of women’s soccer. And now that he has invested a huge chunk in women’s soccer, the Angel City F.C. co-owner proudly cheers for his team every now and then. But was it all for smart business dwellings? Apparently not!

Nor was it solely based on his passion for the sport. Speaking about the same, the co-founder of Reddit recently disclosed how his daughter shares his passion for soccer and that it was her enthusiasm that drove him to invest in the team.

Serena Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian opens up about his women’s soccer endeavors

The American tennis legend’s husband is one of the leading investors and entrepreneurs in the business realm. Speaking about the success and development of his soccer club, the American internet entrepreneur was recently featured in an interview with ‘On her turf‘.

Meanwhile, Ohanian brought to light a major factor that influenced his decision to invest in women’s soccer. It was her daughter’s love for the sport that encouraged him to become one of the members of the executive board of Angel City F.C., which also includes Olympia and Serena.

In the process, Ohanian recalled an incident involving the 5-year-old Olympia, who was cheering for the US women’s national team during the FIFA World Cup. While showcasing her support for the team, she was running around in the jersey of their star player, Alex Morgan. Taking note of her antics, Ohanian conferred with his wife, Serena, that their daughter could play for the US women’s national soccer team.

The former tennis ace answered hilariously as she said, ‘Not until she’s paid what she’s worth.’  It received a quick response from her husband, ‘Alright, challenge accepted.” 

It was a decisive factor in Ohanian’s entrepreneurial journey as he later co-founded the NWSL club, Angel City F.C. Since then, the tech entrepreneur has been sighted in the stands during his team’s matches. Even Olympia has become a regular attendee in the NWSL stadium as she was recently spotted in her ‘swag‘ soccer avatar.

Reminiscing about his decision, Ohanian recently expressed love for his daughter Olympia in his Instagram story. While sharing the video clip of her interview with ‘On her turf,’ he added a caption, “Love you @olympiaohanian”
