After winning the women’s singles title at the US Open in 2021, British youngster Emma Raducanu made quite a noise in the tennis fraternity. On June 5, 2022, Raducanu made a brief video message to wish Queen Elizabeth II. It was on the auspicious occasion of the Queen’s platinum jubilee celebrations.
After her triumph in New York last year, Raducanu turned out to be one of the finest British singles player on the tour. Moreover, her Grand Slam singles win was the first by a British woman since Virginia Wade in 1977.

The former world no.10 congratulated Queen Elizabeth II on her platinum jubilee. She said, “I know what it feels like to feel under pressure on the tennis court, but for 70 years, you have remained calm at all times. Thank you for everything, your majesty.”

After 70 years as the monarch of the United Kingdom, Queen Elizabeth II passed away at the age of 96 at Balmoral. She passed away yesterday in the comfort of her Scottish estate, where she had spent most of her summers.

In a shocking upset, Raducanu fell to Alize Cornet in the first round of the US Open 2022. The 19-year-old Britain, seeded eleventh, could not defend her title as she lost 6-3, 6-3 to Cornet.

Raducanu’s loss is not surprising, as she has been plagued by injuries that caused an early exit from Wimbledon and most of the summer hard-court season. The British star has had numerous changes in her coaching staff as well, which could be a valid reason for her inconsistent results.
The result of this match will indeed impact Raducanu’s ranking as well. What that means is that she will fall in the rankings after losing merit points gained for winning last year’s title.
