18-year-old rising star Emma Raducanu impressed almost everyone with her exceptional gameplay at the Wimbledon Championships 2021. It was her first Grand Slam and she managed to reach the pre-quarters of the tournament. However, unfortunately, she retired in the middle of her match against Ajla Tomljanovic, withdrawing from the Major.
In a tweet, Emma Raducanu later explained her reasons for withdrawing from the Wimbledon Championships 2021. She revealed that she was feeling a little dizzy and her staff advised her not to play any further.
It happened to me playing for the national team in U16s against Wales. I remember it to this day. No explanation for it and it never happened again. You should be very proud of yourself. The country is proud of you. Glad to read your feeling better. Onwards and upwards 🎾🏴 https://t.co/sokkubBlLN

Interestingly, soccer star Marcus Rashford retweeted her post and expressed his opinion on the same. He stated that a similar thing happened to him as he injured himself during a crucial match when he was playing in the under 16 category for his national side, England.
“It happened to me playing for the national team in U16s against Wales. I remember it to this day. No explanation for it and it never happened again,” tweeted Rashford.
Rashford was clearly trying to motivate Raducanu. Recalling his own such experience, the Manchester United star suggested such a situation may not rise again in the future and urged Emma to continue focusing on her trade.
