Former world number 1 Naomi Osaka took away Wim Fissette from Chinese number 1 Zheng Qinwen a few months back. After Qinwen won a gold medal at the Asian Games, she announced how Fissette went against their contract and parted ways with her to join hands with Osaka. Fissette also posted about the immense potential Osaka shows, which is why he is joining her team. And now, after bagging Fissette, Osaka has also decided to reunite with her performance coach so she can be prepped in the best way before her comeback next year to the Hologic WTA Tour.

Naomi Osaka decides to rehire her performance coach

As Osaka stages her first comeback after more than a year, the former world number has decided to add a performance coach to her team to be phenomenal on court once again. She has brought back her coach Florian Zitzelsberger to ensure that she can also focus on her health and fitness along with her game.

Florian Zitzelsberger is obviously excited to be a part of her team. After the news was released, he said, “It’s an interesting journey for me because the work we started was not quite finished. Now we have the chance. Naomi is a pure talent, quite unbelievable. But still, I see a lot of athletic potential that we can work on. First and foremost, she has to stay healthy, but on the other side, there is so much potential to nurture, strengthen, and conquer.

Zitzelsberger has worked with multiple players from the ATP and WTA tours in the past 8 years. He worked with Chanelle Scheepers at the beginning of his career and then with Kevin Anderson as well. Zitzelsberger shared in the interview how he also wanted to be a professional athlete. He shared that he used to play soccer and also did skiing. But he got injured when he was a teenager. That is when he realized that he wanted to heal his body without injections or any extra medications.

And that is what inspired him to study more about the constitution of the human body. Further, he started his athletic coaching education and became the biggest doctor in sports with that. Now, he will hope to help Osaka return to the top of the WTA rankings.
