Iga Swiatek criticizes the tennis world for not supporting Ukraine enough

During the recent charity event at Krakow, in Poland, the current world no.1 said, I have noticed that, in the beginning, the tennis world’s interest in what has been going on in Ukraine was very strong. Many female tennis players donned ribbons in the colors of that country. However, with the passage of time, this changed and ribbons disappeared after a couple of matches.

Speaking about players not commenting on the recent conflict between Russia and Ukraine, Swiatek said, Many players refuse to comment on the topic of war. I respect that because everyone does what they deem appropriate.

Meanwhile, during the charity event, Swiatek played a singles match with former Polish player Radwanska, who won the single-set match, 6-4. In the same match, Elina Svitolina was in the chair umpire’s seat, officiating the match. Notably, Svitolina is expecting her first child with her husband Gael Monfils.
