Venus Williams and Serena Williams have shared many great times together on the court. The two sisters have played in front of each other for a plethora of matches. After two decades of matches, they have a lot of memories to cherish. The elder Williams sister recently shared one such memory with her fans of an old tournament, where she held up a trophy.

While Venus Williams recalls the time of the particular tournament, she couldn’t help but think of another instance. She shared a picture of a hilarious mix-up when a magazine outlet confused her for Serena Williams.

Venus Williams and Serena Williams have been at each other’s side ever since they were young. The sisters ushered in their own era of tennis and now have great memories of it. Venus was in the mood for a throwback recently and shared pictures of her from the 2015 ASB Classics. She won the tournament, and the picture she added shows her holding up the trophy. With it, she added the caption, “This time in 2015 #auckland”.

However, the throwback doesn’t end there. The situation takes a hilarious turn as Queen V also shared a picture of the tournament guide. Along with it, she wrote a caption that explained the funny situation. “When the tournament labeled me as @serenawilliams in the tournament guide. Quickly added 15 slams to my resume,” Venus wrote cheekily. 

The tournament guide will live for a long time in the seven-time grand slam champion’s possession. But it was not the only time someone mixed up her and her sister.

Fans were outraged as a journalist mixed up the Williams sisters

Earlier in 2023, the Super Bowl halftime show saw Rihanna come onto the stage and perform her heart out. Many did not enjoy the performance, including Chuck Ross, an investigative reporter. Ross said, “Venus Williams won a major while pregnant, so Rihanna has no excuse for this abominable performance,” effectively confusing Venus Williams with Serena Williams.

Fans of both the sisters were livid at the mix-up and let Ross know that he had screwed up big time. Some fans agreed with his opinion of Rihanna’s performance, but most called him out or insulted him for not knowing who won a slam when they were pregnant.

After the backlash he received, Ross would definitely remember that it was Serena Williams, who he was going for. But it ended up becoming another moment where someone mixed up the two sisters.
