After a lackluster campaign at the Australian Open, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova made amends in the following tournament, the Linz Open. After breezing past some of the top guns, the Russian tennis star secured a place in the semifinals of the indoor hard-court event. However, despite delivering some stellar performances, Pavlyuchenkova recently became a target of body shaming on social media.

The 32-year-old player failed to overcome top seed Jelena Ostapenko in the semis, as she tasted a thumping defeat with a score of 6-2, 6-3. Pavlyuchenkova’s straight sets prompted a fan to issue some harsh remarks as he brutally mocked or stigmatized her. The WTA superstar was quick to respond, and she has now come forward to shut down the hater on social media.

Even in her quarterfinal match, Pavlyuchenkova, who was an unseeded participant, pulled off an upset against her  Beligain colleague and the fourth seed, Elise Mertens, as she defeated her with a score of 6-3, 6-2.
