And now before the Australian Open, a tournament which she has won twice in the past, she was asked about the scope of her winning a Grand Slam title this year.

To which Osaka replied, “I don’t want to put pressure on myself, but I do think I can win a slam this year. It’s a long season and I’ve beefed up my schedule with more tournaments to give myself more match play. I think that I’ll be in a great place come summer hard court swing.”

Osaka wants to show her daughter that nothing is impossible, and this ambition drives her to push harder. Osaka said, “And I don’t know I just Want to show Shai that she’s capable of everything. So, that’s one of main purposes and main reasons for why I wanna be back out here.”
