The all-conquering Pole’s eight singles titles also include two Grand Slam victories as she won the French Open and the US Open this season. Additionally, she reached the world no.1 spot in the WTA ranking, with her brilliant performances on the tennis court. The US Open champion is enjoying her best season on the tour since turning pro.

Notably, Świątek has reached close to breaking another legendary record held by the American tennis legend, Serena Williams. The world no.1 recorded her 22nd bagel of the season, during the WTA Finals and she further reached the 2nd spot in the WTA Bageled & Schmeared Ranking. As a result, a plethora of fans reacted to her massive achievement.

Fans reacted as Iga Świątek inches close to breaking Serena Williams’ record

Iga Świątek recorded her 2oth bagel of the season against the American tennis prodigy, Coco Gauff, in the San Diego Open. She performed brilliantly as she defeated Gauff in the quarterfinals. Additionally, Świątek scored another bagel against the Croatian tennis star, Donna Vekic, in the final of the tournament.

However, the San Diego Open wasn’t the only tournament where Świątek produced bagels during the season. The US Open champion also participated in the WTA Finals. During the tournament, Świątek played against some of the most promising players and recorded her 22nd bagel of the season when she again played against Gauff.

Świątek’s performance during the WTA Finals

Even after such a massive season, the US Open champion showed no signs of tiredness as she performed brilliantly at the WTA Finals. Świątek started the tournament brilliantly as she defeated the Russian tennis, Daria Kasatkina, in the group stage match. The Polish tennis star later went on to beat the French player, Caroline Garcia.

Świątek then defeated the American tennis prodigy, Coco Gauff, in an exciting matchup of the event. In doing so, Świątek reached the semifinal round of the WTA Finals. Despite her dominating performances throughout the tournament, Belarusian tennis star, Aryna Sabalenka, got the better of the current World No.1 in three sets, 6-2 2-6 6-1. She will now face Caroline Garcia in the championship match.
