The tennis pro recently discussed self-care strategies that helped keep her going in an interview with Cosmopolitan.
Following her retirement in August, the tennis pro has been occupied with being a loving mother to Olympia, her five-year-old daughter. The former world number one made a clear note of making memories with her child even in her announcement of her retirement.

Serena Williams shares her different self-care ritual
The tennis pro has a new self-care regimen in her routine after spending a few months at home with her daughter. The 23-time Grand Slam champion recently discussed how playing video games helps her unwind after a long day.
According to Williams, the word self-care is a little played out when it comes to one’s mental health. She said, “What else do you do to take care of yourself mentally? I know the word “self-care” is a little bit played out at this point.”

She added, “Yeah, the word self-care is played out, but it’s still super important. I just relax. I play video games with my daughter. She’s young and she loves it. Turns out I love it too.” And then she continued saying that over time, video games have turned out to be her chill zone with her daughter.

The tennis star also talked about how her five-year-old enjoys playing video games and, with her, she has also started enjoying the same.
Williams talks about being open about her health
The 23-time Grand Slam champion was questioned about being candid about her past health issues during the same interview, and she notably discussed her daughter’s delivery experience in precise detail. The tennis pro responded simply, stating that it was crucial to pay attention to that aspect after being given a special opportunity to stand out and talk about this crucial topic.

The former world champion did, however, add that focusing on her family and her businesses, including the apparel line and other Serena Ventures, is a part of her plan after evolution from the sport.
