Further, Williams has always shown an interest in events aiming to bring positive societal reform. Recently, she stumbled upon an offer that sat accurately on her charity-related palate and loving nature.

Serena Williams’ latest collaboration that aids a cause

Williams on November 16, joined hands with DoorDash to work on Serena x DashPass Wrap Pack. The Wrap Pack will be a luxurious wrapping bundle consisting of paper, gift tags, and bows that elevate any gift. However, the main reason behind Williams’ collaboration is that DoorDash will donate $10, up to $50,000, to The Yetunde Price Resource Center for every wrapping paper claimed.

“My family and I are passionate about giving back to the community of Compton because it gave so much to us growing up,” Williams confessed.

“It is important that we look after each other and give back to our communities when we can.” Yetunde Price was the former World No 1’s half-sister who lost her life to gun violence in 2003. She was the eldest of all and was a personal assistant to both Serna and Venus.

In memory of Yetunde, the YPRC was founded in 2018. The organization aims to help people, who become victims to direct or indirect senseless violence, move on and flourish.

Atrocities that Williams faced in her playing days

Apart from having to deal with the pain of her elder sister’s demise, Williams faced several other heartbreaking situations in her journey. When at her peak, she suffered from a life-threatening disease. In 2011, Williams discovered that she had blood clots in the pulmonary artery of her lungs.

She had to opt for immediate surgery, and her entire career was on the line. Further, other than personal problems, the seven-time Wimbledon champion’s heavy build attracted ill comments in her initial days. People accused her of having an unfair advantage and pitied her petite opponents.
