The stage is set for Hollywood’s action star Tom Cruise‘s latest installment. The Final Reckoning is the newest entry in the beloved Mission: Impossible franchise. Seven films later, the $4.1 billion saga (according to The Numbers) is still running, just like Cruise’s famous runs in all his appearances as the iconic Ethan Hunt. However, the eighth part marks the farewell of the character and the series. Undoubtedly, fans are excited to witness his one last breathtaking, death-defying appearance. Of course, he will be seen performing yet another high-octane stunt too. Apart from fans, many celebrities are eager to watch this film as it opens in theaters soon. But guess what? Some of them seem to have gotten an early access already! Well, it’s the power couple of tennis icon Serena Williams and husband Alexis Ohanian.

As much as he’s a movie lover, Ohanian’s admiration for Cruise is also widely known. Remember how in 2023 he praised the Top Gun: Maverick actor while wishing for him to be Iron Man, aka Tony Stark? In the early days, Cruise was speculated to portray the role of Stark in the popular Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). However, Robert Downey Jr. eventually got the chance to be the famous billionaire-philanthropist, and the rest is history. He’s become synonymous with Iron Man thanks to an iconic performance in all of Marvel’s films, including the Avengers installments.

While Ohanian acknowledged Downey Jr.’s acting, he couldn’t resist wishing for Cruise to be Tony Stark. In a post on X, from September 2023, he wrote, “Sometimes I think about Tom Cruise taking that role as Iron Man (they tried so hard to land him and he kept turning it down). He’d have done great, but Downey is just so perfectly cast. I know my @_lalaxyz friends feel me.”

While Cruise has not played Iron Man, he’s definitely immortalized Ethan Hunt on the big screen. The iconic IMF agent in the Mission: Impossible franchise. And being a fan of the Academy Award-nominated actor, how could Ohanian leave a chance to enjoy his latest offering? Hence, he and his wife Serena eventually got an exclusive opportunity for a private screening of The Final Reckoning!

Ohanian took to his Instagram on Wednesday and shared a picture from the private screening of Cruise’s action film. He and Serena were seen posing next to the poster of the near $400 million film (as reported by Variety on May 14). “A private early screening of @MISSIONIMPOSSIBLE @TOMCRUISE”, wrote the former Reddit co-founder. Well, this moment comes just days after Ohanian shared his excitement for this film. Last week, he shared a story on his IG while dropping a photo of the movie’s poster. He simply wrote, “So so ready for this @tomcruise”

But guess what? It’s not the first time he and Williams have enjoyed a special movie night together. Remember their experience of a Marvel flick from more than seven years ago?

When Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian rented a movie theater for Black Panther

Back in February 2018, watching Black Panther was every moviegoer’s wish. After all, the film had received wide critical acclaim and a fantastic box-office opening too. Among the excited fans were also Serena Williams and her beloved Alexis Ohanian. So what did they do to witness the superhero extravaganza? Well, the couple simply rented out an entire theater. But there was a noble reason behind it!

The couple actually supported several little girls from BlackGirlsCode. The latter has been running initiatives since 2011 to help girls of color in tech through coding education. Ohanian had shared on his IG, during a live session, that he had extra tickets for the screening, and that he collaborated with the nonprofit organization to arrange an unforgettable experience for the young girls. Undoubtedly, they were left speechless with this special, private screening. Especially after tennis great Serena showed up while giving them a surprise.

The 23-time slam queen gave a sweet speech and said, “I’m glad you guys could make it out. Obviously, this is a huge moment for us, for black people. We’ve never had a superhero movie, so we’re so excited. I feel like I’ve waited my whole life for this,” reported TeenVogue in February 2018.

Later, the ex-WTA legend also shared a picture from this moment on her Instagram. “Last night we surprised a group of girls from @blackgirlscode to watch black panther with me in a private screening. We loved the movie and had a awesome time! @alexisohanian thanks!!”, she wrote.
