To display the breathtaking journey of Serena Williams and Venus Williams, Warner Bros is releasing a feature film, ‘King Richard’. The story revolves around how Richard Williams – father of the Williams sisters – guided the duo to become tennis stars. Just recently, Serena and Venus talked about how they felt after watching their lives on the big screen.

Serena Williams described the experience as ‘surreal’. Venus Williams, too, got very emotional on seeing the film. ‘King Richard,’ starring Will Smith, is coming to the movie theatres on 19th November 2021.

After watching ‘King Richard’, Serena Williams shared her wonderful experience at the press conference of Warner Brother. She said, “No word describes it better than surreal. Just to see these incredible actresses and everyone behind it just putting this all together about our dad’s journey but, because of myself and my sister, it really is like, ‘Wow, OK, really? Are we really something?'”

Even for, arguably, the greatest tennis player of all time, seeing her life and that of her family on the big screen was a surreal experience. Serena would’ve gotten to witness the impact that she has had on the tennis world, and in turn, the impact that her father has had on her journey.

She further praised the actors of the movie and quoted, “Then to have Will play this role as my father and the way he just embodied Richard Williams, it just took the whole film to a whole new level. It’s so emotional, it’s well done and it’s a brilliant piece of work.”

Venus Williams’ emotional message

In the same press conference, Venus Williams also spoke about her experience watching the movie. She said, “It’s super emotional. I’ve seen the trailer, I’ve read the script, and every time I watch it my eyes are just watering.”

Even she appreciated the young girls who played the role of Serena and Williams. She added, “I think it was amazing to see the family atmosphere on the set and how much Demi and Saniyya really acted like Serena and I, even when the cameras weren’t rolling, like holding hands, and it was so sweet”.

The movie is all about how Richard Williams, the father of Venus and Serena, struggled for his girls. With limited sources, he managed to train and inspire two of the best tennis players in the history of the sport.
