Along with Naomi Osaka, Serena Williams has also announced major positive news on her return to the tennis court. Williams has been away from the professional sport since she suffered from a hamstring injury at the opening round of Wimbledon 2021. The seven-time Wimbledon champion was forced to retire from her match against Sasnovich.
Just recently, Williams confessed that she’s recovering well. Furthermore, she confidently announced good news about her participation at the Australian Open 2022.
Serena and Osaka met in the 2021 Australian Open semi-finals, with Osaka clinching the victory on her way to the title. That match was seen by many as a ‘passing of the torch’ moment from the legend to the next-superstar. If Osaka can enjoy even half the success that Serena has, she will have plenty to be proud of from her career.
