American tennis player Serena Williams has been one of the most prominent players on the tennis tour. The manner in which she has carried her career over the years has made her a deserving global super star. 

Over the past couple of weeks, the tensions between Ukraine and Russia have surmounted and people around the world are concerned over the same. Sporting athletes from across the globe have shared and showed their solidarity for peace to prevail.

Serena Williams has been saddened by recent events around the world 

Recently, Serena spoke about this subject after attending the Critics Choice Awards. She mentioned the fact that members at the event were talking about the on-going conflict most of the time.

“So overall it was a good night[at the Critics Choice Awards] and what was good about it was people talking about the support they are giving the people in Ukraine and I hope that they can come through it.”

Coming to tennis, Serena hasn’t competed on the WTA tour since the Wimbledon Championships last season. Both Venus and Serena skipped the US Open towards the end of the year and missed the Australian Open this year as well. 

Success has been felt off the courts 

However, they have been busy with off-court commitments with the release of their movie King Richard. It is based on their lives and the incredible journey they had growing up as tennis players and was told through the lens of father Richard Williams. His role has been played by Hollywood legend Will Smith. The movie was well-received by the audiences and has been winning numerous awards off late. 

The Williams sisters are still recovering and are not yet fully fit to be back playing on the WTA tour. It will be interesting to see if Serena can win the elusive 24th Grand Slam title which she has been chasing for a while now during the final leg of her career.
