Olympia Ohanian, who will turn 5 on Thursday, was at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Monday to watch her mother’s first round match. She sat in Serena’s player’s box as her mother hit aces and swing volleys, which very much defines her style. Olympia wore braids with white beads, similar to her mother’s style when she won her first U.S. Open in 1999. She also wore a black bedazzled top identical to the one her mother wore on the court. Apart from her attire and looks, the four-year-old was clicking pictures with what looked like an oddly familiar type of camera.

Serena Williams’ No. 1 supporter Olympia cheered her from the stands

After announcing her plans to retire from tennis, Serena Williams began her final US Open campaign on Monday. On the opening day of the US Open in New York City, the tennis legend faced off against Danka Kovinic of Montenegro in the women’s singles first-round match.

Olympia, her daughter, was taking pictures with a camera while sitting in Williams’ player guest box in Arthur Ashe Stadium. Witnessing the moment, a fan on Twitter posted a picture of little Olympia capturing a moment from the match. Quoting the tweet, Ohanian replied, “What can I say, @OlympiaOhanian loves her disposable camera…”

She cheered her mom while snapping photos with a checkered pink disposable camera at the US Open. Along with her father Alexis Ohanian, Olympia was also beside her grandmother, Oracene Price during the match.

Williams beats Danka Kovinic in her first round match

In the US Open first-round match, Serena Williams defeated Danka Kovinic of Montenegro 6-3, 6-3. A near-capacity 25,000 spectators gathered at Arthur Ashe Stadium to cheer their idol, who responded in a typically resilient fashion.

Williams discussed how much the support from the crowd meant to her in a post-match interview. She said, “The crowd was crazy,” “It really helped pull me through. I was really pumped. I was like, ‘Yes, I got this.‘”

Serena Williams will now proceed to the second round, where she will compete against Anett Kontaveit. In her opening game of the competition, Kontaveit defeated Jaqueline Cristian in straight sets.
