Serena Williams Exhilarated for Academy Awards 2022 As Her Film King Richard Bags Multiple Nominations

Serena Williams has been one of the most prolific personalities of recent times, and not just for her success on the tennis courts. She is one of the most decorated players of all time, arguably one of the greatest of all time, and the one with the most number of Grand Slams titles amongst the active players. She and her sister, Venus Williams introduced in women’s tennis a new style of play- dominating and powerful in nature. Both of them are also successful entrepreneurs and businesswomen, and most recently executive producers as well.

Serena and Venus received executive producer credits for the movie ‘King Richard’ which stars Will Smith in the titular role. It is based on their father, Richard William. Richard, along with his wife, Oracene Price, has been monumental in the success that both Venus and Serena Williams have enjoyed over their long careers. Both of them, credit their father for the skills and life lessons that he inculcated in them in their formative years.

Venus and Serena Williams to present at the Oscars

The most prestigious of the awards, The Academy Awards are slated to be held on the 27th March. The movie ‘King Richard’ has 6 nominations. These include Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Film Editing. Beyonce’s single for the movie, “Be Alive” also received a nomination. Serena and Venus who were executive producers of the film, seem to be very excited about the prospect. They have also been chosen as presenters for the show, along with other big Hollywood names like Jake Gyllenhaal, Josh Brolin, and others.

Serena also posted a few stories on her Instagram about the same, saying “welcome to the Oscars”.  She sounded genuinely excited, with Harry Style’s song, ‘Golden’ playing in the background.
