Recently, Serena and Venus Williams‘ father, Richard Williams, has been making the headlines. His divorce from his ex-wife Lakeisha Graham is apparently taking a heavy toll on the family, emotionally. As per the latest update of the case, the family has accused Lakeisha of being reckless with their money. They have also accused her of forging Richard’s signatures to transfer his home to her name.

Lakeisha, who was married to the famous tennis coach for 13 years, now has a son Dylan from the marriage. Both Richard and Lakeisha share custody of their 10-year-old son. The allegations against Lakeisha in this divorce battle are mainly brought forward by Richard’s son, Chavoita LeSane.

Serena Williams and her family are not letting Lakeisha get away with the “theft”

Richard is trying to hold on to his property in Palm Beach Gardens. This, he claims, was transferred to Lakeisha for just $10 on paper and thus invalid. Lakeisha also owes David Simon, a hard lender, a sum of $279,000. She used the money for a failed “truck” business.

The major concern of this prolonged divorce battle between Richard and Lakeisha is money. “My first concern, as far as Lakeisha and the relationship with my dad, I think began when my dad started having concerns about money disappearing,” Chavoita LeSane told The U.S. Sun.

LeSane says his father contacted him to figure out where all the money was going. He was concerned about why his social security checks were no longer coming in. He continued, “My dad’s very astute when it comes to his finances. So social security checks were not like, so great that my dad needed to rely on [them] to take care of himself, month to month.”

In court, Richard later claimed that Lakeisha forged his signature on the social security checks. “Lakeisha took the Mercedes, she took the bus, she took the money, what else was it? The motorcycle,” said LeSane.

Richard confirms the allegations against Lakeisha and, having gone through many health problems, he is just desperate to finalize his divorce.

What Lakeisha and her legal team have to say

The proof of theft against Lakeisha was revived from her statement at the Palm Beach County Court. Lakeisha herself admits to these acts of forgery. She even admits to changing the name of the power of attorney on the papers. She replaced the name with her friend, Brandy Clark, and hence easily sold the items.

However, Lakeisha has pleaded to the court that this was an act of desperation. She says that neither she nor her son had anything to eat and claimed that the purchases were made without Richard’s knowledge just so that the family could get through such difficult times.

Richard’s legal team, as predicted, has denied her claims. They have alleged Lakeisha of stealing cars and forging signatures even before this incident.
