It has been a special US Open this year. It saw the American legend, Serena Williams, ending her illustrious career after 25 glorious years on the Tour. Shortly after her comeback from a hamstring injury, the 23-time Grand Slam champion announced that her ‘home’ Grand Slam tournament will be the last tournament of her professional career.

Serena put in a special performance before bowing out of the tournament in the third round. She knocked out the second seed, Anett Kontaveit, in the second round of the tournament. However, her run ended with a defeat against Ajla Tomljanovic of Australia. After the tournament, the younger Williams sister gave a glimpse of how she spent her weekend.

After being on the court for around nine hours over her singles and doubles campaign at the US Open last week, Serena enjoyed her much-deserved rest. She shared a picture on her official Instagram handle of her sleeping on the bed. Additionally, in the caption, she wrote, “How was your weekend? This was mine ….”

Serena teamed up with her elder sister, Venus Williams, for one last time to participate in doubles at the US Open. The Williams sisters, who are two-time women’s doubles champions in Flushing Meadows, lost in the opening round against the Czech Republican pair of Lucie Hradecka and Linda Noskova.
