Tennis queen Serena Williams had suffered a hamstring injury during this year’s Wimbledon and had retired from the tournament. Since then (July), she hasn’t returned to the tennis courts. Consequently, fans remained in doubt about Serena’s recovery and Australian Open 2022 participation. For this, the 23-time Grand Slam champion shared some great news on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Primarily, Serena came on Jimmy Kimmel Live to promote her father’s biopic ‘King Richard.’ During the show, she reflected on the hamstring at Wimbledon, her long-strenuous recovery process, and the Down Under participation next year.

Serena Williams confirms Australian Open 2022 participation

Notably, Serena loves playing on the grass at Wimbledon, and therefore, it was tough for her to walk out with injury. However, the worst is behind her as the tennis queen is feeling “much better now.”

“Hamstring’s better. [It] took a long time. It’s like forever, but it’s much better now,” Serena told Jimmy Kimmel. When asked whether she had torn her hamstring, the American pro explained her injury briefly.

“I tored at Wimbledon; I was actually winning, and I went for a shot, and I just heard this noise, and I was like, ‘Oh, no!'” Serena continued. “I was like felt it, but I felt like okay well let me just keep trying and it was bad, I was like ‘Oh, man.'”

Later on, Kimmel asked whether she would be ready to compete at the Australian Open 2022. And, her response got the crowd roaring in excitement. “I am definitely, yeah,” Serena confirmed.
