After Serena Williams hung up the racket, many wondered what was in store for her next. Tennis fans didn’t have to wait long to find the answer as they saw her shift from being a tennis icon to becoming an icon of fashion. To solidify her new position, one need not look beyond the honor she received at the Council of Fashion Designers of America and became the first athlete to receive the award. However, for her, it was just another Monday as she played it off the huge moment lightly.

That Serena and fashion go hand in hand is no surprise; the younger Williams sister has enthralled fans with iconic outfits throughout her career. However, she has donned several head-turning outfits post-retirement as well. One of her most iconic looks came at the Met Gala this year – and if nothing else, her latest honor is a formal acknowledgment of her sartorial senses.

Williams stuns at the Met Gala

Earlier this year, at the Met Gala in New York, Williams made attendees and fans do a double take. While she always looks fashionable, her sartorial choices as she announced that she was expecting another child went above and beyond. Standing alongside her husband, who donned a jet-black tuxedo, Williams showed off a black bodycon dress with puffed black sleeves and a white frill. She served ‘GOAT’ looks as she also adorned a pearl headset and neckpiece to complete her outfit.

The frill of her dress threatened to get in her way and ruin her dress. However, hubby Alexis Ohanian was on the case and helped her climb the steps with no issues. Along with the couple looking iconic, they also showed fans an endearing glimpse at their relationship. It is not the first we’ve seen and will not likely be the last one we see.
