The husband of Serena Williams, Alexis Ohanian has made a quality addition to his NWSL soccer club, Angel City FC. Consequently, he had to introduce Olympia to it. Julie Ertz, Olympian, and two-time World Cup champion have joined the club. Both father and daughter are more than excited to welcome the new player into the club and they are definitely not hiding their excitement.

The Reddit co-founder makes sure to take Olympia with him whenever he goes to the soccer field. This time, he introduced the player whose recognition resembled Olympia’s name.

New addition Julie Ertz leaves Alexis Ohanian and Olympia in a jubilant mood

The US Women’s National Team midfielder Julie Ertz has made a name for herself. However, it is after two years that the player is making a comeback. Angel City FC seems to be the perfect place for the Olympian to enter at the moment, as she looks forward to getting back on the field.

The 29-year-old two-time World Cup champion Julie Ertz is not good news only to Angel City FC but also to its owners Alexis Ohanian and Olympia.

The largest investor and the youngest owner of the club invited the renowned soccer player with all the excitement. Ohanian stated, “Welcome to @weareangelcity @julieertz @OlympiaOhanian seems especially excited.”

Making her feel at home, the trio clicked a picture where Ertz was smiling cheek to cheek with Ohanian on the side and Olympia striking a pose for the cameras. The goofy pose and the carefree vibe made the soccer player give a hearty laugh to the camera.

The vision behind introducing Olympia to soccer or even making such a $100 million investment in the club came because of Serena Williams.

How did Serena Williams make Ohanian invest in a soccer club? 

While watching the 2019 Women’s World’s Cup finals, Ohanian was all invested in the game as a soccer fan. As a soccer dad, he could not help but envision his daughter playing the same game.

However, in an interview with Harper Bazar, Ohanian dictated the reply of his wife Serena Williams. This reply made him set up a soccer club. Williams gave him a reality check and stated that it would not be so nice to see Olympia play soccer if they did not pay her what she was worth.

That was the defining moment for Ohanian as he became the co-owner of Angel City FC. From that point onwards, Ohanian used  his social media to raise the popularity of the women’s segment of the sport.
