On this day in 2001, a horrific attack at the World Trade Center in New York not only shocked America but also the whole world. Remembering that incident, several tennis stars paid tribute to the incident on social media, including Martina Navratilova, Billie Jean King, and Serena Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian.

Notably, all of them took to Twitter and shared some beautiful pictures. They also wrote some heartfelt messages remembering the attacks of 9/11.

Earlier, former Czech-American tennis player, Navratilova tweeted, We can never forget… and fight for what’s right regardless of who is doing the wrong stuff… Photo taken last night- full moon and the Chrysler building…

Later, the 12-time Grand Slam winner and one of the trailblazers of women’s tennis, Billie Jean King took to Twitter and shared a heartfelt story. My father was a firefighter, so the bravery of each first responder on 9/11 is particularly meaningful,” she wrote on Twitter. 

“That day had many heroes. Some wore uniforms and some did not. Not a single hero nor the ordinary citizens who lost their lives should ever be forgotten, she further wrote.

Meanwhile, Serena Williams‘ husband Alexis Ohanian took to Twitter and shared a picture of a Fire Engine and in the caption, he used a Statue of Liberty emoji.

Notably, Billie Jean King and Martina Navratilova were two of the greatest tennis players in the history of the sport. Recently, Serena Williams also retired from tennis, as they sent lovely farewell messages to her.

Yesterday, Iga Swiatek won her third Grand Slam title of her career and her first US Open title. Moreover, she became the first Polish player to win the US Open trophy. In the final, she beat the Tunisian player Ons Jabeur 6-2 7-6 in 1 hour and 51 minutes.

Interestingly, both Navratilova and Billie Jean King witnessed her amazing victory. Additionally, Navratilova handed the US Open trophy to Swiatek during the trophy presentation. Later, the 18-time Grand Slam champion took to Twitter and congratulated both Jabeur and Swiatek for their incredible run at the US Open.

On the other hand, Billie Jean King also posted a message on Twitter, congratulating both Jabeur and Swiatek for having an amazing battle in the final.
