Between family moments and billion-dollar ventures, Serena Williams‘ husband, Alexis Ohanian, is on a relentless quest to conquer the gym—and himself. Despite playfully calling himself an “out-of-shape dad,” the tech-savvy entrepreneur and Reddit co-founder has been on a mission to uncover the right motivation. Now, Ohanian is using ChatGPT to inspire and motivate his fitness routine.

Ohanian has discovered a more intimate way to utilize ChatGPT, the newest craze, in addition to employing state-of-the-art technology. Ohanian took to his Instagram account to share a screenshot of his conversation with ChatGPT. He asked the AI tool, “Tell me something that will destroy me so much that it will make me go to the gym.” To which the ChatGPT replied,

“Imagine waking up one day, looking in the mirror, and realizing that every time you chose comfort over discipline, you traded away the stronger, more powerful version of yourself. The version of you that could have been unstoppable. Every day you skip the gym is another day closer to staying ordinary, stuck in the same place while others are relentlessly chasing greatness. Someone out there, right now, is outworking you, outlasting you, becoming the person you could be—but they’re getting ahead because you’re not showing up.”

On October 12, the billionaire entrepreneur took to his social media and revealed that he uses AI to create personalized math problems for his daughter. He’s using AI to create math problems featuring characters his daughter admires, like Taylor Swift and Simone Biles, to make learning more engaging. “I used AI to create Math Problems based on JR’s Favorite Things,” Ohanian, who launched Reddit in 2005, told fans via Instagram.

In April 2023, Alexis Ohanian posted a tale on Instagram about how he and his daughter used ChatGPT to relax before bed. Along with the screenshot of the story, he wrote, “@Olympiaohanian writes her bedtime stories with me and ChatGPT now.” The Lemonade Quest, a delightful story that has grown to be a favorite, was one of the most notable stories produced by this cooperation.

This innovative partnership is a prime example of how Ohanian sees AI as a tool to enhance experiences rather than just a topic of discussion. Alexis Ohanian had a distinct viewpoint that stood out among the clamor last year as the discussion surrounding the ethics of AI was intensifying.

Serena Williams’ husband’s realistic take on AI

Last year, Ohanian came forward to share his take on Twitter. In his tweet, Ohanian referred to this phenomenon as a “tsunami of AI for content creation & storytelling.” He went on to express that it “would only make the most HUMAN of stories more valuable.” But when it comes to bringing up his daughters, he has a distinct viewpoint.

It was in September 2018, when Olympia was only 7 months old, Ohanian had engaged in a conversation with CNBC, where he had clearly stated that he and Serena did not want their daughter hooked to the screen. “You see very quickly how quickly these kids gravitate towards [devices]. It’s amazing to watch, but it’s also a little scary,” he had said.

Moreover, rather than viewing it as a threat, he recognized its potential to enhance his creative processes and personal experiences. Ohanian consistently highlighted the importance of using AI to complement human effort, sharing how he incorporated ChatGPT into writing bedtime stories with his daughter and generating ideas for his projects.
