Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian receive tremendous love from fans. In fact, the tennis fraternity has adopted Ohanian as one of its own. One may ask why. Well, like the 23 times Grand Slam champion, even though he has achieved a lot in his sector, he is still in touch with his humble self.

Williams’ mother herself approved of the fact that the happy-go-lucky Ohanian is a down-to-earth man. She shared the story of her first meeting with the 39-year-old and explained why she believes so.

What does Serena Williams’ mother think of Ohanian?

Oracene Price Serena, Williams’ mother, in a 2017 interview, spoke about her son-in-law’s nature. She recalled how the San Francisco-based entrepreneur hopped on a flight to South California to take her permission to wed Serena. She said, “I think he was very nervous. He was going to do it anyway, but he was following the proper etiquette.”

Thereafter, Price explained how the simple things that he took care of made a difference. She shared a story portraying Ohanian’s devotion. “There was this shirt [Serena] liked but couldn’t find it. A black-and-red check shirt.”

“He went online and found it for her. To me, that’s romantic because you’re listening to the person you’re caring about say something and you’re doing something about it,” she added. Price trained both her daughters alongside husband Richard Williams and parted way with him in the year 2002.

Speaking of the former World no.1 and Ohanian’s marriage, they tied the knot in November 2017, and in the same year, they welcomed their daughter Olympia.

The 7-times Wimbledon Champion is ready to let go of her excellent tennis career. She made a comeback after a year-long injury and currently is on her retirement tour.

Williams first took part in the Canadian Masters. Following that, she tested her skills in the WTA 100 event in Cincinnati. At Cincinnati Open, the two times champion locked horns with the Brit Emma Raducanu and incurred a 4-6 0-6 defeat. Now the 40-year-old will gear up for the last Grand Slam of this season as well as her career.
