Serena Williams Showers Love on Miami Open Champion Danielle Collins in an Unexpected Tennis Moment for Fans

In 2o21, Danielle Collins fulfilled her childhood dream when she battled Serena Williams on the court. Despite the French Open that humbled the then 36-ranked player with a 6-4, 6-4 loss to Williams, Collins had said she was “flattered” by the praise of the 23-time Grand Slam champion before their clash. Well, she has another reason to be flattered after Williams’ recent show of support. Only this time, Collins became the lowest-ranked woman ever to win the Miami Open 2024.
The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) released a stunning picture of Collins after the competition, showing her rejoicing over her well-earned victory. In the picture, she is holding the coveted trophy with a look of utter happiness and success.
Williams took the opportunity to offer her sincere congratulations to Collins. Replying to the post in the comment section, she wrote, “So happy love this and you.” Collins didn’t take too long to reply and wrote,

But that is not all as Serena Williams continued to show her delight in another post celebrating Collins’ major success.

In the middle of her last season on tour, Miami local Danielle Collins won the WTA 1000 Miami Open on Saturday, earning the greatest championship of her career at home after defeating Elena Rybakina with a score of 7-5, 6-3. The former WTA World No. 1 Serena Williams has a record of winning eight Miami titles in her career.
As mentioned earlier, Serena Williams was also full of praise for Collins in 2021 during a press conference at Roland Garros. “She’s a really awesome person off the court, I love seeing her in the locker room and ideally it would be great if we didn’t play each other because I always want her to do super well,” Serena had said of Collins. Collins talks about her dream after winning the Miami title
The 30-year-old Collins battled through a furious two hours and two minutes to win the WTA 1000 title, her third career WTA singles trophy, and her first title at any level since 2021. After the match, she acknowledged her hard work during the last two weeks and said, “What a dream come true to have played at the level that I have played consistently over the last two weeks.”
She further described the positive energy that she felt on the ground due to her fans. “It’s just been amazing to go out today and to have felt the energy that I felt from the fans and literally feel like I’m playing in front of thousands of my best friends; that was just surreal. I will never forget this day because of that,” she said with excitement.
