Serena Williams debunks myth about working women

The Queen of the Court is not a ruler who hoards her knowledge and wealth. Williams is keen on sharing it to help other women grow and achieve their own dreams. One of how Williams aims to empower women is by sharing accurate knowledge. After the COVID-19 pandemic, a myth flew around that women were becoming less ambitious about their careers. But Williams, with the help of the former COO of Meta, Sheryl Sandberg, shared the Women in the Workplace 2023 report, which debunks the myth.

The 23-time grand slam champion shared a picture on her Instagram story. She also added a caption where she briefed about the post, saying, “@leaninorg and @mckinseyco just launched the 9th edition of #womenintheworkplace2023. This year’s report debunks four damaging myths about women and work – starting with myth #1: women are becoming less ambitious. In reality, women are as ambitious as ever. And flexible work is helping women pursue their ambition @sherylsandberg.”

Serena Ventures makes investments to empower women

In 2014, the American found that women received less than 2% of venture capital funding. As a result, she founded ‘Serena Ventures’ to empower women, and her venture capital firm has invested in 54% of female founders. In October 2022, Serena Ventures raised funds for ‘Boss Beauties’, which aims to improve the status of women in the Web3 space.

Boss Beauties has grown immensely since they received funding from Williams’ venture capital fund. They also acquired ‘Best Friend Finance’, which aims to raise awareness of the fundamentals of finances. With this move, Williams has actively participated in ensuring that women who might not be aware of certain technologies are not left behind. Her ventures continue to uplift women, and she will continue to do it till she can.
