Prior to the dominance of Spanish tennis players such as Rafael Nadal and Paula Badosa, Arantxa Sanchez Vicario, a four-time Grand Slam champion, burst into the tennis world and paved the way for Spanish dominance in tennis. But over two decades after retiring from tennis, the former Spanish tennis player has found herself in a serious multi-million dollar fraud.

The 14-time Grand Slam singles and doubles winner from Spain allegedly drained her bank accounts in order to avoid paying her debt. In an eerie coincidence that resembles the downfall of Boris Becker, she may serve time in prison as a result of her fraud.

Vicario was one of the youngest-ever French Open winners at the age of 17 and was a Wimbledon finalist in 1995 and 1996. Recently, Banque de Luxembourg accused the 51-year-old former tennis player for hiding assets and money worth around 7 million dollars. According to the Sun, the bank took the case to court after the payment was not made.

The prosecution has accused the four-time Grand Slam champion and her ex-husband, Joseph Santacana, of hiding their assets to avoid making the payment. While the case will go to trial in September, if she is found guilty, the former tennis player can face 4 years in prison, along with her ex-husband. Moreover, she could also be ordered to pay a £5.1 million compensation fee to Banque de Luxembourg.
