Canadian tennis pro Bianca Andreescu, once heralded as a rising star, faced another disappointing setback with her first-round loss at the Canadian Open. It was a much-anticipated clash between former Canadian Open champions, Bianca Andreescu and Camila Giorgi on Tuesday, August 8, impressing fans with a mixture of passion and excitement.

Though the duel was promised to be a tough fight, it was not so as Giorgi won in straight sets with the final scoreline of 6-3, 6-2, prompting Andreescu and her fans to reflect on her journey beyond her stellar 2019 season.

As the crowd buzzed with anticipation, 2021 Canadian Open champion Bianca Andreescu took on 2019 Canadian Open champion Camila Giorgi on court but it was the latter who showed incredible skill and determination in the match that lasted slightly over an hour and a half

In her post-match interview, Andreescu painted a vivid picture of the match. “She hits the ball very hard, She hits the ball very early, she goes for everything and She acts like she the boss on court and She was the boss on court tonight, not me,” Andreescu said, acknowledging Giorgi’s unique style of play.

With a tinge of frustration, in her words, Andreescu acknowledged Giorgi’s dominance in the game, knowing that the court belonged to Giorgi that night.

 

Credit to Andreescu for not being a sore loser. Anger and frustrations can often make one lose their cool but she showed she is in control of her emotions. Andreescu has had a rollercoaster of a career so far.
