Patrick Shares a Story
Serena Williams is one of the noteworthy players that Patrick has coached. He’s been her coach since June 2012. Recently, while sharing his thoughts on the importance of mental strength in tennis, Patrick shared a memory related to Serena.
Everyone knows Serena is a strong-willed person, and recently Patrick put a stamp on the same when he said, “I have the story with Serena that I’ve loved so much because that was incredible. We started in 2012 and she was in trouble at a time and then she started to win, we start before Wimbledon and she wins Wimbledon, US Open, and then the masters at the end of the year, and then she tells me she struggles to win Roland Garros and would love to win Roland Garros. so we make a plan to win Roland Garros and the next Roland Garros she wins it.”

Serena has determination and patience, but also doesn’t consider her wins as a pass to slack off. This was proved when Patrick said,
“she’s expecting to win Roland Garros for 11 years without success. She wins in 2002 and then not once until 2013. It’s quite long, and when she wins Roland Garros in 2013, after 11 years trying to win it, right after the trophy ceremony, she’s just stretching and I’m with her, and then she turns to me after literally five minutes, and she says to me, okay, now we have to win Wimbledon. At that time, I know she already forgot about Roland Garros, the title she’s chasing for 11 years. So this is really an example of the mindset of the champions.”

Patrick Mouratoglou and the Players He Has Coached
Patrick Has helped Serena win 10 out of 23 slams. However, they also faced a fair share of hardships. It is the will and love for game which they both share, kept them together.
Partick has also been trusting. His faith in his players has never fumbled. He proved the same by backing Stefanos Tsitsipas when he was being criticized for a tough win in Rotterdam Open 2022 by saying,
Patrick is also training a rather younger player, Coco Gauff, and has a mindset that he should change himself to understand the game of the player rather than moulding them to his convenience
