“She Finally Points to Me and…”: King Richards Actress Recalls When Serena Williams Recognized Her

The biopic, ‘King Richard’ has finally made its debut on the silver screen. Drawing positive responses, the film is doing pretty well across the nation. Recently, Demi Singleton, who’s playing the role of Serena Williams, talked about the moment she met the tennis legend.

Singleton defined it as the most iconic moment on set. Furthermore, Demi also opened up about her experience of getting inside the character of the 23-time Grand Slam champion.

Demi Singleton shares the iconic moment of meeting Serena Williams

‘King Richard’ revolves around the journey of Richard Williams, father of Venus and Serena. Richard played a pivotal role in the development of both Serena and Venus Williams. The 14-year-old Hollywood star, Demi Singleton, talked about the first meeting between her and Serena Williams.

Talking about moment, Singleton said, “We were filming a house scene. We go, ‘Oh my god, Serena’s here, this is amazing,’ and a few minutes later, Serena walks into the house. I was trying not to bawl my eyes out.”

Furthermore, the teenager said, “She comes in and she’s like, ‘Hi, I’m Serena, nice to meet you all’,” [And then] she points to us and basically tells us which character we are… She goes, You play Isha, you play Venus, and then she finally points to me and goes: And you play me. And I was like ‘yeah, I play you.’ That was probably my favorite moment on set.” The young star was starstruck in the presence of one of the greatest tennis players of all time, and we certainly can’t blame her.

Sidney Saniyya is playing the role of Venus Williams, while Will Smith is cast in the lead role of Richard Williams. Fans have already started showering love on the biopic.

Serena appreciates the work of the actors in King Richard

Serena Williams was certainly delighted with the fine work the actors put in for ‘King Richard’. In an interview, Serena said she is delighted to have Will Smith playing the role of her father. Moreover, she also appreciated the efforts of Demi Singleton and Saniyya Sidney to make the project more successful.
