

Serena Williams has announced her retirement plans, and nobody is happy about the GOAT leaving the court forever. Her fans gathered in huge numbers just to see her play during her last appearance in a Masters tournament in Cincinnati. She reigned almost unchallenged in women’s tennis for more than two decades and won 23 grand slam titles during her glorious career.

However, she was not kept out of people’s scrutiny. The player was questioned for her strong and muscular physique, which initially daunted her. Williams once talked about accepting herself and being proud of it in front of her daughter Olympia.

Williams talked about her physique in an old interview with Harper Bazaar after giving birth to Olympia. She talked about the resolution she had made when she was 22. She reminisced and laughed about it. While gesturing to her biceps, Serena Williams said, “This is me, and this is my weapon and machine.”

However, she was glad about her statement because now she could compare it with the mindset she has now. She said, “But I love that I said that because I can understand. I can show Olympia that I struggled, but now I’m happy with who I am and what I am, and what I look like.”

Furthermore, she explained her feeling when she saw Olympia had inherited the same powerful arms. Serena Williams said, “Olympia was born, and she had my arms, and instead of being sad and fearful about what people would say about her, I was just so happy.”

The legendary American has 23 grand slam titles and this US Open will be her last Grand Slam event. If she wins it, then she would equalize Margaret Court’s record of 24 grand slam titles.
