The Czech player thrashed the Japanese star in straight sets and enjoyed a comfortable victory over her. The final scoreline of the match was 6-1, 6-4.

In the post-match interview, World No.42 Marketa Vondrousova highlighted that it is perhaps one of the biggest wins of her career. She revealed that Naomi Osaka is the greatest in the game at the moment and thus, she is feeling incredible after beating her.

?I think this is one of the biggest [wins of my career], for sure. I beat Simona [Halep] twice, but I think Naomi, she is the greatest now, the greatest in the game, and she?s also the face of the Olympics,” said Vondrousova in an interview.

The Czech player stated that even though she has defeated Simona Halep twice in her career, the win over Osaka is a special one. She also mentioned that Naomi is the face of the Tokyo Olympics 2020 and therefore, to beat her at her home is a huge thing for her.

Marketa Vondrousova is “too happy” after defeating Naomi Osaka at the Tokyo Olympics 2020

Vondrousova believes that it was difficult for Osaka to compete against her during the match.
