‘She Was Short of Breath..’ – Meghan Markle Reveals Friend Serena Williams’ Traumatizing Time as She Points Out Sheer Negligence of Nurses

Serena Williams, over the years, has experienced several hardships but never let them affect her personal or professional life. Recently during a podcast, the Duchess of Sussex and Williams’ close friend Meghan Markle brought the inconsiderate behavior of her medical staff, especially her nurse who labeled her crazy, to light.

Serena has experienced several health scares over the years, particularly when it comes to blood clots. However, the biggest threat to her life came immediately after her pregnancy.

In one of the episodes of the Archetypes podcast, Markle interviewed comedian Aparna Nancherla, and they discussed how women’s fears usually get dismissed by healthcare professionals. “Serena has a history of blood clots and she was feeling awful after her C-section. She was short of breath and she was beginning to lose feeling in her legs,” the former actress explained.

Thereafter, she disclosed how her nurse quashed her concerns and the demand for a precautionary CT scan. Her nurse said, “I think all this medicine is making you talk crazy.” Markle, after claiming that Williams knew her body, added. “Thankfully, she did finally get the life-saving attention that she needed. “

“But my goodness, it took far too long. Long for her to be listened to, and it’s like that for so many women. Particularly women of color. The stakes with this, they’re huge,” added Markle.

The former World No.1, around 2011, suffered a pulmonary embolism, a condition in which blood clots traveling from different parts of the body cause blockage in the pulmonary artery of the lungs. She had to undergo emergency surgery and therefore was rightfully fearful about the same during labor. And her fear did come true as small blood clots were found in her lungs after the C-section.

Recently, the seven-time Wimbledon champion sat down for some fun games with Olympia. They gave the classic bubblegum bubblegum riddle a twist. While the original version ends with a question asking how many pieces of bubblegum one wishes. In Olympia and Williams’ version, it ended with dresses. It went ‘Princess Princess in a dish.
