The American tennis duo of Taylor Townsend and Alycia Parks has recently made headlines for their incredible triumph in their home hard court event, the Cincinnati Open. In the doubles event of the WTA Masters 1000 event, the pair recently outperformed the third-seeded duo of Nicole Melichar-Martinez and Ellen Perez, 6-7(1), 6-4, [10-6].

After a one hour and 35 minutes long thrilling encounter, Parks and Townsend finally managed to clinch the doubles trophy on their home soil. However, it wasn’t an easy task for the WTA players who entered the tournament as unseeded players and, with a lot of skepticism surrounding their recent form. Now that the duo has finally managed to pull off a spectacular campaign in Ohio, a flurry of fans are firing back at their haters on social media.

The WTA players teamed up for the first time at the WTA Masters 1000 event in Ohio and sped through the fixtures with their stellar prowess on the court. During their remarkable campaign, Taylor Townsend and Alycia Parks have outclassed the top 5 seeded pairs, including the fierce team-up of Storm Hunter and Elise Mertens, in order to mark their triumph in the Cincinnati Open.

Notably, the entire tennis realm is proud of the American duo’s spectacular victory, as they have also answered their naysayers in the process. It came after the official page of the WTA Tour hailed Townsend and Parks in their recent post on Twitter. In the caption, they stated, “🏆 Champs in Cincy 🏆 @TaylorTownsend and @TheRealAParks secure the @CincyTennis title and their first as a team!”

Fans admire the triumph of the Americans

A lot of questions were raised about the 27-year-old player’s fitness levels during her comeback on the court, after her maternity break, a few seasons back. Taking heed, one of the fans commented, “They told Taylor she was too fat to be on the WTA tour. Now (after giving birth in 2001 btw) she’s holding the title in doubles in a masters 1000 draw.”

Similarly, another user expressed his amazement by saying, “Isn’t Taylor Townsend pregnant too? That’s incredible 👏🏿”

Meanwhile, one of the fans asserted how the American duo’s recent victory will serve as an inspiration for other black women in the tennis community.
