Shelby Rogers, the 29-year-old American, currently ranked 47th in the world, is set to start working with Iga Swiatek’s former coach Piotr Sierzputowski. Even though Rogers’ journey so far has been marred with injury-related issues and inconsistent form, the hope is that Sierzputowski will help her find her rhythm again.

Rogers’ best run in a Grand Slam has been reaching the quarterfinals, once at the French Open 2016 and the next time at the US Open 2020. She will be hoping that adding Piotr to her staff, who was with Iga during her 2020 French Open triumph, will provide her with the spark to go deep in majors.

Last year at the US Open, Rogers caused a major upset by knocking out World No. 1, Ashleigh Barty, in the third round. She faced Emma Raducanu in the fourth round and lost the match in straight sets to the eventual champion.

Piotr Sierzputowski previously used to work with the current World No. 8 Iga Swiatek from Poland. Coaching her from her days in the junior circuit, he guided her to her French Open win in 2020. Aged just 19 and ranked No. 54, Swiatek, under his wing, became the youngest player to win the French Open since Monica Seles.
