Adding to their glorious tennis careers, Chris Evert and John Lloyd’s chemistry brought a lot of attention to the sport. Both players met each other when they were young and got married in 1979.

However, their marriage did not work, and they eventually got divorced in 1987. Nonetheless, both players respect each other. Their mutual respect was particularly evidenced when John Lloyd dropped Evert a message after finding out about her cancer diagnosis.

John Lloyd called Chris Evert, a champion

John Lloyd talked about the experience of marrying the tennis star Chris Evert and how the marriage changed his life. He said, “Getting married to Chris was like going to a different planet.” The experience humbled him and he said, “You have to leave your ego at the door”. He acknowledged their differences and also said that they were very young at that time.

He said, “We were both young”. The player accepted the mistakes that they both indulged in. He said, “We both probably did things that we regret. Neither of us were exactly angels.” Furthermore, he talked about their friendship and the mutual respect both of them have for each other.

After her cancer diagnosis, the player immediately received expert healthcare. She has now completed all rounds of her chemotherapy and has completely recovered from the deadly disease. Lloyd had commended her strong will and had shown faith in her recovery. He said, “She’s a champion, she’ll fight anything. Champions like her find a way, it’s in their DNA.”

Chris Evert has established herself as one of the greatest tennis players to grace the realm of tennis. She was inducted into the Internation Tennis Hall of Fame in 1995, owing to her incredible career that saw her win 18 grand slam singles titles.
